Lisa McDennon, principal of LRM Interior Design, has plenty to smile about!

Lisa McDennon’s stellar reputation keeps on a sky-high trajectory as she makes another “Top 20” list in less than six months.

Pick up the March issue of OC Metro to read about how and why Lisa McDennon made their list of top 20 women in business in the Orange County area.

Only two designers were named in the list—does that mean that Lisa is one of the top two interior designers in Orange County? Her fans certainly think so!

Congratulations to Lisa and her team at LRM Interior Design! We’re all waiting to see what she does next.

Top Five Faves: End Tables

February 28th, 2010 by jennifermyers

LRM Interior Design proudly presents the first of their Top Five Faves blogs. We are starting off with the topic of side or occasional tables that we love! Of course, it was so hard to whittle the list down to just five, but we did our best to present the five best table that the industry has to offer, from many talented furniture designers. So, with no further ado, let’s begin:

Hershey Table from Corbin Bronze

Hershey Table from Corbin Bronze

Top Fave Number One: Lisa McDennon’s choice was this uniquely shaped hammered bronze table from Corbin Bronze. Not surprisingly, it’s called the Hershey Table, and indeed the base looks just like the delicious Hershey’s Kiss™. This table could be tucked in the corner or next to a chair, where its unconventional shape could be discovered by the observant viewer. Or, an interior designer of Lisa’s caliber could design a whole room around the beauty, color and form of this chair. She has done it before with a single lamp! Find this and more Corbin Bronze tables at www.corbinbronze.com. (read the rest of this post…)

“She was thrilled!” said Lisa, after she met with her client. “It was more than she was expecting, and she can’t wait to get started. She even showed it to everyone at the meeting we attended!”

Beautifully presented and containing inspirational photographs, a color palette and a list of where to buy products is all included in the box. It also includes a floor plan and instructions on how to apply the new design to your room.

Turquoise: The color of 2010

Turquoise: The color of 2010

Jan Smith, LRM Interior Design’s Senior Designer, lets our readers in on a fantastic Insider Tip: “Various interior design sources agree that the main color palettes being used today in home interiors are one of the following three trends.”

“Trend number one: Anything eco-friendly involving ‘nature’ or ‘going green,’” explains Jan.  “Using an ecologically conscious color scheme is still very prevalent in today’s market, as are furniture and accessories, and how you apply or install the décor in your home.” (read the rest of this post…)

LRM Loves: Baker Furniture’s Jacques Garcia Collection

February 11th, 2010 by jennifermyers

The Castel chair's fretwork on its back is elegant and contemporary.

Everyone at LRM Interior Design is loving the Jacques Garcia Collection from Baker Furniture, especially Lisa McDennon and Kari Seydewitz.

“The lines of this collection are so clean, yet fresh and contemporary,” says Lisa McDennon, principal of LRMID. “I love the curves and detailing on the Saint-Tropez cocktail table and the Madrague lamp table.”

The Baker company has been making fine furniture since the 1920s, creating pieces that are “fashionable, collectible and superbly crafted in the Old World way,” as Baker puts it. Not one to rest on the laurels of their reputation, Baker has brought Jacques Garcia Collection to the United States in 2004. (read the rest of this post…)

“My two favorite aspects of a project have to do with soft furnishings,” explains Kari Seydewitz, one of LRM Interior Design’s full-time designers. “I love designing and creating pillows and window treatments!”

A great example of Kari’s work can be seen in one of LRMID’s current projects in Newport Beach. “I was involved with picking the fabrics, trims, the design, and finally, the installation,” Kari says. “I’m very pleased with the result, as was the client — which is always the most important thing.” (read the rest of this post…)

Lisa McDennon, Principal of LRM Interior Design

Tomorrow at 10AM, students of interior design will be crowding around a podium at the Laguna Design Center, waiting for the keynote speaker. Seeing how the event, the Second Annual ASID OC Student Career Day, is co-sponsored by House Beautiful magazine, it’s no surprise that the keynote speaker is our own Lisa Rachelle McDennon.

Students will have the opportunity to have their portfolio reviewed, and learn about all aspects of interior design from Lisa and other award-winning designers attending the event. Topics of discussion and presentation include model home design; restaurant and hotel design; high-end custom home design; corporate spaces; oceanfront and estate property design; kitchen and bath design; yacht and small space design; and even landscape design.

Students can learn a great deal from the course that Lisa chartered, back before she was published in House Beautiful magazine and was a mere student herself, earning a degree in Fine Art at the University of Irvine.

LRM Interior Design: Aces at Accessorizing

January 31st, 2010 by jennifermyers

Bookcase and accessories in a client's home

Bookcase and accessories in a client's home

Jan Smith, senior designer at LRM Interior Design, talks about the company’s talent for accessorizing those often-missed areas of the home, like a hallway or niche. Many times, it’s an area that the homeowner can’t seem to find anything to fill or fit the odd space.

The LRM Interior Design team has several sources to tap when we’re looking for those special and unique pieces that make the space complete. Some sources are local to Orange County, but many times LRMID’s designers need to access companies from other states or even countries for that perfect item.

Balance, proportion, rhythm, emphasis and unity are the design principles that LRMID uses when accessorizing. The end result should always look like every item was meant to be there. Or—even better—it looks like the pieces were made specially for that space.

LRM Interior Design can transform those dull, forgotten or ignored areas into areas that shine, full of interest and wonder.
