Mystique Avocado wallpaper by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen

This week, LRM Interior Design’s Hillary Nichols has been inspired by the fun and eclectic wallpapers she found on burkedecor.com.
“I love the use of bright and complex colors, metallics and bold patterns, and how many of these papers have an ethnic flair but with a modern twist,” says Hillary.
If you decide to use one of these statement wallpapers, LRMID suggests pairing it with simple, clean-lined pieces of furniture. Let the wallpaper shine without the furniture trying to compete for attention! (read the rest of this post…)

Adding Some Spice to Interior Design

May 18th, 2009 by jennifermyers

LRM Interior Design’s Hillary Nichols writes this Inspiration about stenciling. Did you think that stencils were just used in your Grandmother’s house or in nurseries? Do you immediately imagine pastel-colored images of roses, vines and hearts? That was the “old” way of stenciling, and in the 21st century, there has been a stencil revival!  New designs, in both modern and ethnic patterns, add a unique flavor to the walls of any space.
“I absolutely love these Moroccan-inspired stencils for borders and full coverage by Royal Design Studio,” says Hillary.  The designs were created by Melanie Royal after she returned from several painting trips to Marrakech, Morocco.
“Stencils can be used in a variety of ways,” advises Hillary. “Try stenciling on the ceiling, or create an entire wall with an allover stencil.” And why contain your stenciling to walls? Hillary recommends that you stencil metallic paint on velvet pillows, on furniture, or even on the floor!
We can’t include the beautiful designs on our blog, so please make sure you check them out on the Royal Design Studio site – click here.
