Can interior design be inspired by fashion? Absolutely!

LRM Interior Design’s Kristen Rusert was in pursuit of a good blog this week and came across MaterialGirlsblog.com. This website showcases coast-to-coast inspirational design ideas. With a beautiful website run by a clever set of girls, the Material Girls blog became Kristen’s inspiration for all things interior design this week. Plus, Kristen likes the blog so much that she will visit often, and share it with others.
One of her favorite pieces is called “Can This Outfit Be Turned Into A Room?,” in homage to the recurring editorial of the same name in the well-loved but sadly defunct Domino Magazine. The Material Girls’ first “homage” blog featured several catwalk looks, from “Glam, Golden and Luxe” to “East Coast Summer Chic” and matched them with interior shots that captured the essence of the outfit.
Their second homage, called “This Outfit IS a Room!” actually featured a Missoni outfit matched with the Hotel Missoni! The hotel’s interior, designed by Missoni’s creative director, is interesting and über creative, highlighting geometric patterns and bold colors throughout the space. We at LRM Interior Design are dreaming of packing our bags to jet off to the recently opened Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh!
But back to Material Girls: another piece Kristen loved is called “Urban Glam” with a plethora of amazing photos and creative design for all different styles.
The Material Girls’ blog reminds us that inspiration can come from anywhere – especially in fashionable Orange County, so keep your eyes open!
