Kristen Rusert, Project Manager at LRM Interior Design, was taken with an article in the October issue of Traditional Home magazine.

“I would love to find a client that hires LRMID for a project that starts from the ground up,” Kristen says enthusiastically. “It would be wonderful to incorporate some–or all–of the eco-friendly ideas used in the article’s featured home.”

Chalkboard paint in fun colors from Hudson Paint

“The ugliest thing you can put in an office or child’s room is a standard, wood- or aluminium-framed blackboard,” says Jan Smith, senior designer at LRM Interior Design. “If there is a need for a chalkboard, Hudson Paint has come up with a fun alternative.”

With 24 colors to choose from, almost any color can be the new blackboard. “Why not paint the entire wall in a colored chalkboard paint, making it fun and functional all at the same time,” asks Jan.

LRM Interior Design’s Kari Seydewitz was more than impressed with House Beautiful’s 2009 Kitchen of the Year, she was inspired.

Designer Robert Stilin designed it for the television cooking superstar, Ina Garten—a.k.a the Barefoot Contessa.

“Kitchens are the new living space,” says Stilin. “They should have room for cooking, dining, and a comfortable seating area.” Kari agrees, and was most impressed by the purple-upholstered chair by the fire. (read the rest of this post…)

Lisa McDennon is all about Halloween this week, not only because she is planning her children’s costumes (”Dorothy”’s ruby slippers arrived, but in the wrong size!), but also because of the LRM Interior Design Halloween Pumpkin Party next week.

“I love how Better Homes & Gardens have thrown orange out the window this season,” says Lisa. “Their black and white decorating ideas are fabulous! It’s much more elegant than the typical orange and black combination.” (read the rest of this post…)

Lisa McDennon introduces LRM Interior Design’s new concept: Design In A Box.

“This is a design package that we created for the client that needs our help, but can’t afford a full contract,” explains Lisa McDennon, principal of LRM Interior Design.

All the elements a client needs to redesign a room literally come in a beautifully wrapped presentation box, and includes:

  • Colorboard
  • Space Plan
  • Furniture selection
  • Architectural details (for instance, a fireplace or built-in cabinetry)
  • Window treatments
  • Lighting

The box will also contain paint color swatches in two folders: one that provides a color palette for the room and another to serve as a quick reference guide for furniture and accessories. (read the rest of this post…)

Lonny Magazine

Everyone at LRM Interior Design was saddened by the loss of domino, one of the team’s favorite interiors magazines. So when one of her friends sent her a Facebook message about a new magazine that had a lot of domino style to it, Kristen Rusert couldn’t wait to check it out.

Enter Lonny, the brainchild of Patrick Cline, photographer and Michelle Adams, textile designer-turned-editor. They met at the domino offices a few years ago, and became fast friends. We’re sensing that the name “Lonny” comes from the combination of Patrick’s home town of London and their current New York digs, but nothing in the editor’s letter says for sure.
