Modern, Art Nouveau-inspired entryway

This week’s inspiration is from Jan Smith, Lead Designer for LRM Interior Design:

“I was inspired by Cheri, a movie I watched at the cinema this weekend, which was set at the turn of the century during the height of the Art Nouveau movement in Paris.

The interiors in the movie were luscious, typifying the Art Noveau movement with its organic motifs, especially the use of floral and plant-inspired designs, and highly stylized, flowing curvilinear forms. It contained a lot elements  currently in style today–the use of focal wallpapers and stencils to enhance architectural elements; embroidered or hand-painted fabrics; furs and animal prints; chinoiseries; and a multi-layering of everything that had been inspired by art.

Each piece of furniture was, in itself, a work of art, but the headboard was one of my favorite furnishings highlighted in the movie, as it was framed by amazing stenciling. Even the details on the bedding and window treatments demanded attention.

The movie was wonderful, but the fact that I was transfixed by the imagery and the overall look of the film made it even more enjoyable for me.”

One more modern example of how a room can showcase some Art Nouveau influence.
